Waxing my Fishing Hat. Easy DIY Water Proofing!

Waxing a Canvas Hat (Using Toilet Ring Wax)
I decided to wax or waterproof some canvas.
In this case a hat.
There's many methods and this has been going on for over a 100 years.
Here's my method.
-NO BOILED LINSEED OIL OR TURPENTINE USED IN THIS RECIPE-
Warning!
There's heat involved- Be careful! Don't burn your house down.
You can't stay with me if you do. Exercise Caution.
BEGIN-
1. Get some wax. Beeswax, Parrafin or another form of Wax.
Toliet Ring Wax is one that can be used.
In the olden days it was beeswax, that's not the case now.
It's now a mixture of vegetable wax, petro-based wax and parrafin.
It's also a softer wax, and it doesn't dry hard like beeswax.
I made a mixture of waxes.
I used small amounts of beeswax, parrafin and the bulk majority came from the wax ring. ($1.48)
2. Find a carrier oil. One that will mix with the wax and also oil the canvas at the same time.
I chose coconut oil (I love that stuff) and some orange oil for a little citrus kick to keep bugs away.
3. Heat the wax in a double boiler until melted.
4. Mix the oil into wax. Stir until mixed completely. Be careful!
5. Use a brush to paint the canvas / Hat. HOT WAX IS LIKE LAVA. Be careful!
6. Let it dry.
7. Apply Heat to the canvas to impregnate the wax / oil into the canvas. (Heat Gun / Hairdryer works for this)
8. Let it dry. (12 hours or so)

NOTE- IF YOU'RE HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS- STOP.
IF NOT- CONTINUE.
IMPORTANT NOTE- IF YOU USED ANY LINSEED OIL / PAINT THINNER / TURPENTINE / OR ANY OTHER SOLVENT- DO NOT CONTINUE!

9. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
10. TURN THE OVEN OFF.
11. Place hat on aluminum foil sheet in the oven. OVEN IS OFF!
12. Let it warm in the oven for 10-40 mins.
13. Remove from oven and let it cool.
DONE- Enjoy.
Recipe- yours may vary.
Ingredients:
1. 1 Wax Toliet Ring- Standard/ 3-4 Tablespoons of BeesWax/ 1-2 Tablespoons of Parrafin Wax/
2. Oil- 8 ounces of Coconut Oil/ 5-10 Essential Oils- Orange. etc. (optional)
Tools:
1. Paint Brush- to apply wax
2. Double Boiler / Stove- to melt wax
3. Paint Stick- to stir melted wax / oil mix
